About Rozalind MacPhail

Rozalind MacPhail is a performer, educator, and certified life coach whose work brings together music, film, storytelling, and human connection.

A Di Zhao Flutes artist and classically trained flutist with a love of experimentation, she creates immersive performances using live-looped flute, voice, omnichord, ambient electronics, and cinematic projections. Her music moves between folk, electronica, and contemporary classical influences, combining the intimacy of a singer-songwriter with the curiosity of an electroacoustic artist.

Based between St. John’s and Twillingate, Newfoundland and Labrador, Rozalind has performed internationally for more than two decades. Her career has included writing and performing original live music for film, session recording work, interdisciplinary performance, music education, and creative mentorship.

At the heart of her work is a fascination with people, place, memory, and transformation. Whether she’s performing in a concert hall, gallery, festival, school, or conference, she creates memorable experiences that feel personal and deeply human.

Her work has received recent recognition from ArtsNL, the East Coast Music Association, and MusicNL, including nominations for Artist of the Year, Arts in Education, Electronic Recording of the Year, Industry Professional of the Year, and Music Educator of the Year.

Her latest project, PUSH & PULL, is an indie folktronica album and film project co-produced with Brad Weber (Pick a Piper / Coy Haste / Caribou). Developed during an artist residency at the Unscripted Digital Arts Festival in Twillingate, it explores the push and pull between isolation and connection through original songs, oral histories, and short films.

Alongside her performance work, Rozalind is a dedicated music educator and certified life coach, helping people connect more deeply with their creativity, confidence, and sense of possibility.

Rozalind is currently booking performances, speaking engagements, and school workshops for the 2026–27 season.

Experience the Work

Rozalind MacPhail performs “Dempster Highway” and “Victoria Street” at TEDx St. John’s.

Rozalind MacPhail shares a warm reminder for anyone who’s sitting on an idea, a dream, a shift, a nudge from within: The spark is enough. You don’t need a full plan. You just need a start.

Rozalind improvises on her alto flute to a beautiful view of an iceberg in her rural home of Twillingate, NL.

Workshops and Teaching

I offer creative workshops, school programs, masterclasses, and learning experiences for musicians, students, educators, and curious creatives.

My teaching brings together music, technology, creativity, improvisation, storytelling, and more than two decades of experience as a performer and educator.

Whether I’m working with young musicians, university students, teachers, or professional artists, the goal is always the same: to create a welcoming space for people to experiment, build confidence, and discover new possibilities in their own creative work.

Recordings & Session Work

Explore my original music, recordings, and current releases, and hear the range of flute work I bring to the studio.

I’m also available for session recording on flute, alto flute, and bass flute, including remote recording for artists, composers, filmmakers, and other creative projects.

Coaching for Creatives

I work with creative people who want more clarity, confidence, momentum, and connection in their lives and work.

My coaching is supportive, practical, and deeply creative, helping artists, educators, and multi-passionate people move through uncertainty, make meaningful decisions, and bring more of themselves to what they’re building.

Stay Connected

I’d love to keep the conversation going.

Whether you’re interested in a performance, speaking engagement, school workshop, creative collaboration, or simply want to connect, I’d be happy to hear from you.
